Election Commission announced that the Lok Sabha elections are scheduled between April 11 and May 16 in seven phases and the counting of the votes will be done on May 23rd. the present Lok Sabha term will end on June 3rd.
On this account PM Narendra Modi tweeted “Festival of democracy is here” and urged the voters to cast their vote this time.
He in one of his tweet also said, “Guided by ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, NDA seeks your blessings again”. He mentioned in his tweet that the Congress-led UPA was rejected by people in 2014, he added saying, “There was unpredictable anger over the UPA’s corruption, nepotism and policy paralysis.”
The announcement if the poll schedule brought the model code of conduct into action. The Election Commission after announcing the Poll schedule said, ‘voter verifiable paper audit trail’ (VVPAT) will be now used in all possible polling stations this time onwards (nearly 10 lakh polling stations across 543 Lok Sabha constituencies). With the coming of this statement, the poll panel has held several meetings and review sessions all across the country in the last few weeks to pump-up its machinery and planning.
