Coronavirus Cases Rises To 26,283

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has reached 26,283 according to the data furnished by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Data. The total deaths due to this virus has crossed 800 mark. 

Apart from this, the number of patients who have recovered and are discharged from COVID-19 is 5,939. As per the report, one has migrated from the country as well. 

Speaking at the press conference today, the Joint Secretary of Health Ministry Lav Agarwal said, as per the data collected till Friday, the total confirmed cases were 26,283. He also addressed that India’s recovery rate is 20.57% and the doubling rate of coronavirus cases are not at 10 days. 

He also revealed that in the last 28 days, there were 15 districts that had no novel case. And, there are 80 total districts in India in which no coronavirus case has emerged in the last 14 days. The Health Ministry Team is implementing several steps to stop the spread of this virus at district as well state levels. Also, community monitoring is also executed frequently. 

While talking of community surveillance to battle against COVID-19, Dr Sujeet Singh who is the director at National Centre for Disease Control said that almost 9.45 lakh people are on surveillance systems.

Meanwhile Maharashtra became the worst hit country after crossing 6,000 COVID-19 cases. The total number of cases in this state is 6,430 and 283 deaths in total. Highest number of cases emerged from its capital city. Mumbai. Mumbai has almost 4,000 coronavirus patients that makes 67% approximately. 

Then comes Gujarat, which has crossed 2,500 mark. The state has 2,624 with 112 deaths. 

Delhi scored 3rd position in Coronavirus Combat. The capital has marked 2,376 positive patients with 50 deaths. 

Apart from these 3 states, the other most affected states as per the deaths records are: 

  • Madhya Pradesh – 83
  • Telangana – 26
  • Andhra Pradesh – 29
  • Uttar Pradesh – 24
  • Punjab – 16
  • Karnataka – 18
  • Tamil Nadu – 20
  • Rajasthan – 27
  • West Bengal – 15
  • J&K – 5
  • Kerala – 3
  • Jharkhand – 3
  • Haryana – 3
  • Bihar – 2
  • Meghalaya – 1
  • Assam – 1
  • Himachal Pradesh – 1
  • Odisha- 1

However Tripura, Goa and Manipur have now negative cases as informed by the state’s respective officials. Also, the growth rate of coronavirus has declined in Kerala and Odisha.

India is currently undergoing a nationwide lockdown till May 3. However, Telangana government has extended it till May 7. Many states will announce the lockdown extension by April 30. 

The United States has topped the list of most affected countries by the novel COVID-19. The country has reported more than 50,000 deaths.
