Sushma Swaraj Took Her Last Breath: A glorious chapter in Indian politics comes to an end, says PM Modi

One of the most profuse politicians of India, Sushma Swaraj’s sudden demise started a wave of shock and grief. She died at the AIIMS in New Delhi late on August 6 at the age of 67.  All the leaders from all possible political spectrum are paying a glowing tribute to the astute leader

President Ram Nath Kovind was extremely shocked to hear the sudden demise of Smt Sushma Swaraj. He said,” The country has lost a much-loved leader who epitomized dignity, courage & integrity in public life. Ever willing to help others, she will always be remembered for her service to the people of India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed his grief by tweeting, “A glorious chapter in Indian politics comes to an end. India grieves the demise of a remarkable leader who devoted her life to public service and bettering the lives of the poor. Sushma Swaraj Ji was one of her kind, who was a source of inspiration for crores of people.

Sushma Ji was a prolific orator and outstanding Parliamentarian. She was admired and revered across party lines. She was uncompromising when it came to matters of ideology and interests of the BJP, whose growth she immensely contributed to.

An excellent administrator, Sushma Ji set high standards in every Ministry she handled. She played a key role in bettering India’s ties with various nations. As a Minister we also saw her compassionate side, helping fellow Indians who were in distress in any part of the world.

I can’t forget the manner in which Sushma Ji worked tirelessly as EAM in the last 5 years. Even when her health was not good, she would do everything possible to do justice to her work and remain up to date with matters of her Ministry. The spirit and commitment were unparalleled.

Sushma Ji’s demise is a personal loss. She will be remembered fondly for everything that she is done for India. My thoughts are with her family, supporters, and admirers in this very unfortunate hour. Om Shanti“.

Home Minister Amit Shah was also deeply saddened by the sudden demise of the former minister and said, “Swaraj’s death was a great loss not just for BJP for the entire political landscape of the country. She was the shining star of our party, she worked tirelessly under the guidance of Atalji and Advaniji. She served with dedication in Modiji’s 1st term. I am deeply saddened today.”

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also showed his shock by saying, “I’m shocked to hear about the demise of Sushma Swaraj Ji, an extraordinary political leader, a gifted orator & an exceptional Parliamentarian, with friendships across party lines. My condolences to her family in this hour of grief. May her soul rest in peace. Om Shanti.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said he was deeply shocked and anguished by the sudden demise of an extremely valued colleague.

Union Minister Smriti Irani was deeply saddened and said, “I have an axe to grind with you, Didi. You made Bansuri pick a restaurant to take me for a celebratory lunch. You left without fulfilling your promise to the two of us.

Senior party leader Arun Jaitley said he was pained and broken at her demise and described her as one of the most outstanding politicians in the present era. Swaraj distinguished in all positions she held in the party, the government and the opposition, he said, adding that she leaves behind a void which is difficult to fill.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said India has lost a great leader. Sushma ji was a very warm and remarkable person. May her soul rest in peace.

P. Chidambaram was also deeply saddened that Sushma Swaraj Ji passed away. He praised her by saying, “she served her party and the country with loyalty, devotion, and distinction. My sincere and heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones.

Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad: Shocked to hear about the untimely death of sister Sushma Swaraj. She was a great human being and will always be remembered.

UN General Assembly President Maria Fernanda Espinosa has hailed India’s former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj as “an extraordinary woman and leader.”

Saddened by the news of the passing of @SushmaSwaraj, an extraordinary woman & leader who devoted her life to public service,” Ms. Espinosa tweeted. “I had the honor of meeting her in my visits to #India, & will always remember her fondly. My deepest condolences to all of her loved ones,” she added.

Many other politicians and people showed their grief for the sudden demise of a great leader.
