On Tuesday BCCI suspended one of the most emerging players, of Indian Cricket Team Prithvi Shaw. He is a 19-year-old opener from all forms of cricket.
A statement from the Board said that Prithvi Shaw had “inadvertently ingested a prohibited substance, which can be commonly found in cough syrups.”
“He (Prithvi) is a champion and will come out of it. He has worked hard (to reach the top),” said Pingutkar, who first gave lessons to a young Shaw at Virar, an area around 60 kilometers from Mumbai.
Prithvi Shaw knocked a century in his debut at Rajkot against West Indies last year and was awarded as Man of the Match.
Prithvi smashed 70 runs in just 53 balls following with 33 not out in the second innings at Hyderabad. Prithvi Shaw has played two tests till now and his average in both the matches was 118.50.
His ankle injury ruled him out of the series against Australia in winter (December) last year.
After having the list of Do’s and Don’t anti-doping committee, it was the primary responsibility of Prithvi Shaw to follow that seriously. One of the best bowler Jofra Archer from England tweeted sarcastic comment “Sorry Shaw” over this news
Prithvi Shaw is the second Indian cricketer after Yusuf Pathan, who is banned by BCCI for doping violation.
Statement Given by Prithvi Shaw:
“I accept my fate with all sincerity. While I am still nursing an injury which I suffered during my last tournament, this news has really shaken me,” Shaw had said in a statement.
“Cricket is my life and there is no bigger pride for me than playing for India and Mumbai and I will come out of this faster and stronger,” he had stated.
The BCCI’s rules would enable Prithvi to start training from September 15. He will be eligible for selection for domestic as well as international matches but he can join playing squad after November 15.
