As India marks its 73rd Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, hoisted the national flag today at Lal Quila at 7:30 AM in the morning. Every year, after the Prime Minister unfurls the national flag, a 21-cannon salute is given to pay homage to all the freedom fighters and armed forces who contributed their own share for an “Independent India”.  Audience at Lal Quila also sing the national anthem to accord respect to our country. 

However, this year’s Independence Day is quite special as the whole country is witnessing a lot of other programmes that our Government/Institutions/Schools are undertaking. 

Here’s taking a quick look at what things make this year’s Independence Day more remarkable and outstanding. 

1.
Suggestions for Prime Minister’s Independence Day Speech

This year, Narendra Modi appealed “aam janta” to give valuable suggestions for his Independence Day speech on “NaMo App”. 


2.
President and Prime Minister at all North Delhi Municipal Corporation Schools

All schools that come under North Delhi Municipal Corporation will exhibit pictures of the current President, Ram Nath Kovind and the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. This step has been taken for the first time in NDMC schools.

Automation at Banaras Hindu University 

Banaras Hindu University has decided to shift to a completely automated mode by today. By doing this, BHU will be considered as a few of the paperless universities of the country. 


4.
India Day Parade in New York

The federation of Indian Association (FIA) – New York, New Jersey and Connecticut will organize its 39th India Day Parade on August 18. The idea behind this parade is Salute our troops. This parade will glorify the sacrifices made my armed forces for the country. 

This is the biggest parade outside that marks India’s independence.

Poster Design Competition under the Bureau of Outreach and Communication

The Government of India with the Bureau of Outreach and Communication has organized a poster design competition today.  The subject for the poster competition is Changing the Face of India.
