The internet took everyone by surprise when film actress Zaira Wasim uploaded a video of a man who allegedly tried to molest her during her journey in Vistara airlines. Zaira, a 17-year-old took to Instagram where she uploaded a video narrating her experience.  As per Zaira, the man sitting behind her was trying to caress her neck and back by placing his legs on the armrest. Zaira uploaded a live video after the landing of the aircraft and the same has resulted in an array of negative comments and judgements about her.

Zaira was travelling from Delhi to Mumbai when the aforesaid incident took place. Zaira took to Instagram to talk about the incident, she started a live video during which she broke down a lot of times. Given the Dangal star’s popularity, the video instantly found viewers and very soon, the entire world was watching an account of what had allegedly happened. Raising a question on the safety of girls, Zaira explained the entire incident once the flight had landed.

A session court in Mumbai remanded the 39 years old accused in police custody for three days. Vikas Sachdev, the accused was arrested soon after the video went viral and was taken into police custody to identify if he was a repeat offender.The accused has been booked under Section 354 ( Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of IPC and relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act( POCSO) since Zaira is a minor.

On one side, Zaira narrated her ordeal on Instagram whereas, on the other, Vikas’ wife has given her own statements. She informed the media that before deboarding, her husband had apologised to Zaira regarding the incident to which she had said,”Okay”. Not only this, just to clear the air, Sachdev’s wife, Divya also told the media that her husband was highly exhausted as he was returning from his uncle’s funeral and had hence, kept his legs on the armrest. He had even told the cabin crew not to disturb him during the flight. To add to her story, Divya said that the police had also lied about the time of her husband’s arrest.

In their final investigation report, the Vistara said that Zaira Wasim’s mother did not want to file a complaint about the alleged molestation of her daughter. As per sources, the airline is holding discussions to formulate a separate body for looking into unruly behaviour on board as per the guidelines as per the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Kangana Ranaut recently said that she would have broken the molester’s legs had she been in Zaira’s place. Even actors like Bhumi Pednekar, Madhuri Dixit and Kareena Kapoor Khan highly condemned the incident and stood in support of the Secret Superstar actor. Zaira also garnered the support of the Phogat sisters in this difficult time.

The Police is looking into the matter as the case raises a question on the safety of women and children in India and all aspects of the same are being studied to give an unbiased judgement about the case.
