The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi congratulated her over Twitter, and all of India showered the lass with their love and blessings through social media.
Congratulations @ManushiChhillar! India is proud of your accomplishment.
— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) November 18, 2017
-Congress leader Mr. Shashi Tharoor also congratulated the winner by posting a tweet, but he also mocked the girl’s last name ‘Chhillar’ in an attempt to lash out at their political rival BJP over Demonetisation. (Shashi Tharoor’s tweet).
What a mistake to demonetise our currency! BJP should have realised that Indian cash dominates the globe: look, even our Chhillar has become Miss World!
— Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) November 19, 2017
As a result, he got a lot of flak from people. To reciprocate what he said earlier he commented on the incapability of people to understand a pun.
Guess the pun IS the lowest form of humour, & the bilingual pun lower still! Apologies to the many who seem to have been righteously offended by a light-hearted tweet today. Certainly no offence was meant to a bright young girl whose answer i’ve separately praised. Please: Chill!
— Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) November 19, 2017
Manushi, however, ad the best response to Mr Tharoor’s comment. The young lady took it sportingly and tweeted back the politician saying “A girl who has just won the World isn’t going to be upset over a tongue-in-cheek remark. ‘Chillar’ talk is just small change – let’s not forget the ‘chill’ within Chhillar”.
