Umm, yes, okay, agreed, this happens to us all! Our eyes get very heavy, we start to fall asleep, then startle awake, apparently, just at the last possible second. Ever experienced feeling so sleepy that you nearly knock your head on your computer screen? When you are too lethargic to even think about working, it’s practically impossible to complete any task.
While this is normal, it very well may be exorbitant and can be stayed away from.
Shouldn’t something be said about practically surrendering the idea working but then you have too much work and you can’t keep it down and sleep? It’s so easy to give in the thought of sleeping and it just feels so ideal to close your eyes and meander into the field of dreams.
Wouldn’t it be superb if you could enjoy a quick snappy break from work to snooze each time you believed you required it? Sadly, this isn’t the truth for most people. We all have our long periods of sleepiness. But, when it turns into an everyday habit and starts to meddle with profitability, it is a reason for concern.
If you have a great deal of work to do and you need to remain wide alert, you can do some basic hacks to keep tiredness under control.
Switch up your tasks
You could feel sleepy maybe because you’re bored with your tasks. In such a case it is advisable to switch up your tasks. By doing so you are breaking the ice and it introduces your brain to another stimuli which will help you to stay alert and awake.
Go for a walk before work
Moving your body a little and getting some fresh air can work wonders to help keep you awake. A walk is especially effective at increasing your alertness if you take one when the sun’s up.
Have lighter lunches
No, it is not the position of the sun which is making you sleepy, neither is it the absence of the moon. It is true that afternoons may bring with them that lulling warmth but that heavy meal you wolfed down at lunchtime is all to blame for your drowsiness. A lot of food in your afternoon diet can make you excessively sleepy.
Peppermint is said to be a natural stimulant and is sure to leave you feeling fresh each time you are sleepy. You can either pop in a mint or can sip on a cup of peppermint tea to knock the drowsiness right out of yourself.
This is what I love the most! When everything else fails, nothing beats good old coffee. If you feel a little lethargic and sleepy, go ahead and indulge in a nice cup of coffee. It is sure to awaken those sleepy senses.
Keep your workspace bright
If you work during the day, keep your workplace window shades open to let in sunlight. If you’re working when it’s dark or dim, turn the lights on to help keep you awake and alert.
Keep yourself hydrated
Sipping a cup of coffee can give you a temporary energy boost, but drinking water throughout your shift is much healthier and is also effective in keeping you alert. That’s because dehydration can make it more difficult for you to concentrate on your work.
Turn on some tunes
It is advisable listening to loud, energizing music such as rock or pop. This can sometimes help increase your energy level. If you work in a shared space, make sure to wear headphones so you don’t disturb your coworkers.
Have some better beauty rest
If you think you can get away with having only two hours of sleep, think again. While a lot of the tricks above might work well with you, the most effective trick is still the most practical and basic: get enough sleep every night.
Go in a Zen mode
A few minutes of meditation before work can effectively make you more alert and engaged for the rest of the day. The point of meditation is not only to bring calmness and relaxation into your life but also to make you more mindful and active.
Follow these simple methods and in no time, your productivity levels at work will shoot right up.
